Aaron James Judge, an American professional baseball outfielder with the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball (MLB), was born on April 26, 1992—Five-time All-Star in MLB.

Judge was chosen by the Yankees as the number 32 overall choice in the first round of the 2013 MLB draft while playing collegiate baseball for the Fresno State Bulldogs. 2016 saw him make his MLB debut, and in his first at-bat in the big league, he blasted a home run.

Judge went on to have a record-breaking rookie season in 2017. He was selected as an All-Star, became the first MLB rookie to win the Home Run Derby, and hit 52 home runs, shattering Joe DiMaggio’s Yankee full-season rookie record of 29 and Mark McGwire’s MLB rookie record of 49. For two years, he held the rookie record.

Judge was born in Sacramento, California, and was adopted by Patty and Wayne Judge, who both worked as teachers in Linden, California, the day after his birth. He and John, his older sibling, were both adopted

He excelled in three sports while attending Linden High School. He participated in sports as a center for the basketball team, a wide receiver for the football team, and a pitcher and first baseman for the baseball team. He topped the basketball team in points scored per game (18.2) and established a school record for touchdowns scored in football. He played baseball for the Linden High School squad that advanced to the Division III playoffs of the California Interscholastic Federation. Judge completed high school at Linden in 2010.

He was a Freshman All-American according to Louisville Slugger.

The 2012 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby was won by him.[14] In the summer of 2012, he participated in collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Judge led the Bulldogs in home runs, doubles, and runs batted in (RBIs) during his junior season. During each of Judge’s three seasons with the Bulldogs—the Mountain West Conference (MW) as a junior (the Bulldogs joined the MW in July 2012, between his sophomore and junior seasons)—and the WAC in each of those seasons, Judge was chosen to the all-conference team.

Since receiving the odd uniform number 99 during 2016 spring training (higher numbers are normally given to inexperienced players who are not anticipated to make the final regular-season roster), Judge has worn it. In 2016, Judge said he would have chosen either No. 35 or No. 44, which the Yankees retired in memory of Reggie Jackson, but he wasn’t sure if he would swap if the latter two became available.

Judge was chosen as The Associated Press (AP)’s “Male Athlete of the Year” on December 30, 2022, by a group of 40 sports journalists and editors from news organizations around the country. Judge narrowly defeated Shohei Ohtani, the champion from last year, and Los Angeles Angels two-way standout in the poll.

Judge hit three home runs, including a grand slam, on August 23, 2023, when playing the Washington Nationals.

On September 2, while playing the Houston Astros, Judge blasted his 250th home run and 30th of the year. In the fifth inning, Justin Verlander, an elite pitcher, surrendered the 426-foot single shot. In his 810th career game, he broke Ralph Kiner’s (871 games) and Ryan Howard’s (855 games) prior record for the quickest player in MLB history to hit 250 home runs.
